The following tools will help you be successful in Mrs. McNeely's Language Arts class.
Text Dependent Questions (TDQs) Guidelines:
To score a 4, responses to TDQs must have:
1. A topic sentence in which the question is rephrased as a statement
2. Important (relevant) evidence from the text with an appropriate introductory clause (example: In the text it said...)
3. Discussion in student's own words of how the text evidence adequately answers/ relates to the TDQ
4. Strong Closing sentence in student's own words that offers reflection, analysis, or a relevant observation.
To score a 3, responses to TDQs must have important text evidence with an appropriate introductory clause and 2 of the other 3 components above.
To score a 2, responses to TDQs must have text evidence and 1 of the other 3 components above.
To score a 1, the student answers the question correctly in one sentence.
To score a 0, the student fails to offer a relevant answer to the question.
